Enjoy and Achieve

use speech marks or inverted commas to punctuate direct speech.

We are going to continue with How to Train Your Dragon.  I know some of you struggled with the author reading the chapters so I have found a different reader.  I hope you enjoy.

Today we are going to recap what speech marks are and when we use them.

Remember speech marks “” are the punctuation we use around what a person is saying to report direct speech.

Look at the powerpoint in resources.  There are a few slides that you can work through to practise punctuating the sentences and speech.  Once you feel you can do this on your own and understand where they go then go onto the challenge.

Your challenge today is to choose one of the slides from 11, 13 and 15.

You will need to re-write the paragraph in your books punctuating the sentences correctly.  This is a great time to practise your handwriting as you are just copying the text.
