Maylandsea Primary Pupils Shine at London Mini Marathon 2026

We are proud to celebrate the fantastic achievement of Maylandsea Primary School children who took part in the 2026 London Mini Marathon. Held in the heart of the capital, the event brought together thousands of young runners for a memorable and inspiring day.

The pupils had trained hard in the weeks leading up to the race, showing determination, enthusiasm, and team spirit. On the day, they joined 22,000 fellow participants to run, jog, and walk the course, finishing along the iconic stretch of The Mall.

For many of the children, this was their first experience of a large-scale sporting event. It was not only a chance to challenge themselves physically, but also to build confidence and enjoy being part of something special. The smiles at the finish line said it all!

Events like the Mini Marathon play an important role in encouraging healthy lifestyles and promoting wellbeing from a young age. We are incredibly proud of all the pupils who took part and represented the school with such positivity and energy.

A huge thank you to the staff; Mrs Dobson, Mrs Winfield and Mrs O'Connell for running with the children, the families for their brilliant support, and Mrs Foster for her organisation skills in getting everyone to the right place at the right time!

Well done to all our amazing young runners!

1st Oct 2025

Maylandsea Primary School launched a brand-new Scrap Store Play Pod this week, designed to transform playtimes by offering children a unique opportunity to engage in creative, imaginative, and active play.

The Play Pod, developed in partnership with Suffolk at Play, is filled with a wide variety of recycled and repurposed materials – from fabric rolls, cardboard tubes, and crates to ropes, tyres, and dressing-up items. These open-ended resources encourage children to invent games, collaborate, problem-solve, and use their imagination in new and exciting ways.

"This is about giving children the freedom to create their own play, The Play Pod will help transform lunchtimes – children will work together, be active, and have fun in a way that builds resilience, creativity, and teamwork."

Research shows that access to open-ended play improves children’s wellbeing, social skills, and problem-solving abilities. By using recycled materials, the Play Pod also helps promote sustainability, showing children the value of re-use and environmental responsibility.

The Maylandsea Primary School Scrap Store Play Pod officially opened on Monday 29th September and is already being met with excitement and enthusiasm from pupils, parents, and staff alike.
