WAL multiplication and division facts.

Warm up:  Another up beat way to learn your tables.  This time your 3x (/ ViewPure )

On your page I would like you to draw 12 towers of 3 cubes (or blocks).  Count along them in your 3’s and at the top of each tower you will write the correct multiple (3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18 etc).

We are going to use these towers to find related division facts.

Using the towers can you find the answer to 3x4?  (Yes you will count along the towers 4 times).  How many 3s in 12?  What number sentence can we write?  Point to the towers if necessary.  Now we can write a multiplication sentence with a hole or a division sentence.

?x3=12 or 12÷3=?

How many 3s in 15?  Now repeat with other mulitples of 3.

You can do this for any multiplication.

Task:  Choose a different multiplication (Maybe one you are struggling to learn).

Draw the towers with the correct multiplication on top.

Now write the multiplication sentences and division facts.

(4x3=12     12÷3=4)

Using your multiplication facts for tables up to 12x12 will help you with your division facts for up to 144÷12
