# Maths

Tuesday

WALT: revise our work on number and place value.

As this is the last week before half-term, I thought we would have a revision week to check understanding of everything on the number and place value curriculum for Years 3 and 4.  This means that the work set for Years 3 and 4 will be different for this week, with 1 or 2 statements per day being assessed.  I am very confident this will show the children are mainly where they should be in Maths and that they should be pleased with their understanding and progress.  Any areas with which they struggle will be addressed when we return to school.

Please feel free, during the week, to try the other year's work as well, if only to re-inforce what you know.

There will also be a Year 3 and Year 4 Mastery file in Resources.  If you are finding that you are comfortable with the work set, look into the Mastery file which will ask for deeper understanding  of the concepts.

There are 6 statements for Year 3 and 9 statements for Year 4.

Today's set work will be on the following statements:

Year 3:

• recognise the place value of each digit in a three-digit number (hundreds, tens, ones).
• compare and order numbers up to 1000.

Year 4:

• count backwards through zero to include negative numbers.
• recognise the place value of each digit in a four-digit number (thousands, hundreds, tens and ones).

Some of this work for some of the children may seem relatively straightforward because of the higher level of work we have been trying to do in class so if it appears they grasp the concepts and work quickly, it shows how well they are doing.
