1. Warm up your maths brains by writing 10 different questions that give you the answer 30. Don’t forget to try and use all 4 calculation signs and why not challenge yourself to include a word problem too.

2. Today’s lesson is all about recapping our learning from before half term, have you remembered how to tally, how to draw a pictogram and how to interpret one? Follow the video and work through the questions on the resource sheet when asked.

WALT – Spell words with the suffix -ful (a suffix is a group of letters that can be added to the end of a word to change the meaning)

1. Can you read this list of words? What do you notice about the end of each word? painful, careful, useful, hopeful, beautiful, cheerful, thankful, wonderful, powerful, helpful If you said they all end in ‘ful’ well done. 2. Rather than doing all your handwriting at once, why not try playing some of the games and doing the quiz below after a few lines. You can find the handwriting sheet under today’s work. This week’s story is all about winter and snow. We have seen a lot of snow already this winter. See how this story ends.  http://www.viewpure.com/anByRvtTrDE?start=0&end=0

Topic - Science

WALA our sense of hearing

1. We are starting a new block of work in science, finding out about our senses.

The first sense we will find out about is hearing. Do you know what part of our body we hear with? Can you point to it?

2. Watch this clip on Espresso https://central.espresso.co.uk/espresso/modules/s1_sound/video_sound/video_

makes_sound_1.html

Try to watch both parts.

3. Now, if possible, go outside for a walk or into your garden. What can you hear? There is a sheet you can write on in the resources section if you would like to use it. Try to sort the sounds into loud and quiet when you come back inside.

4. As an extension of your science skills I’d like you to try a science test.

Ask your parents for a wooden spoon and a metal pan. Ask your adult to bang the spoon in the pan while you are standing near it. Now take 5 steps backwards and ask them to bang the pan and spoon again. Keep taking 5 steps and repeat hitting the spoon on the pan. What do you notice about the sound, the further away you get? Does it get louder or quieter? Why do you think this might be?
