Hedgehog Class

Welcome to Hedgehog Class! 🦔

Welcome to Hedgehog Class, where we are beginning an exciting new adventure in Year 3 and Key Stage 2!

Our class teacher is Mrs Willmore, and we also have Mrs Barker supporting us in the classroom.

Our topics for the year are:

Autumn Term – The Stone Age

       Spring Term – Rainforests

       Summer Term – Ancient Egyptians

Useful Information

In Hedgehog Class, we use ClassDojo as our main way of communicating with parents and carers. We use it to share important messages and reminders, as well as photographs and examples of the exciting learning taking place in our classroom.

Children can earn Dojo points throughout the week for demonstrating positive behaviour, making good choices, working hard and showing our school values. We try our best to collect as many as we can!

At the end of each week, we celebrate our Dojo winner, who receives a certificate and gets to choose a special prize from our Gold Box! Our points are then reset ready for everyone to have a fresh start the following week.

Parents and carers can also use ClassDojo to contact Mrs Willmore with any questions or concerns.

Our PE days are Thursday and Friday.

Children should come to school wearing their PE kit on these days. Our PE kit consists of a light blue T-shirt with navy or black shorts. During colder weather, children may wear a navy or black tracksuit.

Please remember that hoodies should not be worn for PE. Long hair must be tied back and earrings should be removed before coming to school.

Homework Expectations

  • Read at least 5 times each week. Please record and sign each read in your child's reading diary. These reads count towards our termly Bronze, Silver and Gold Reading Awards.
  • Practise their weekly spellings. A new spelling rule and set of words will be shared on ClassDojo every Monday, ready for our spelling test on Friday.
  • Complete at least 15 minutes of Times Tables Rock Stars each week. Children will be set the times tables appropriate to the stage they are currently working on.

We love celebrating children's commitment to their learning at home, and there will be weekly and termly rewards for children who consistently complete all three homework expectations.

Snack and Lunchtime

Children are encouraged to bring a healthy snack for break time. Suitable choices include fresh fruit, vegetable sticks or other healthy snack options. Please do not send crisps, biscuits or sweets for a morning snack. Please remember that we are a nut-free school, so snacks and packed lunches should not contain nuts.

Water Bottles

Please ensure your child brings a named water bottle to school each day.

Water bottles should contain water only – no juice or squash please. We encourage children to drink regularly throughout the school day, and bottles can be refilled when needed.

Online Learning

Every child has their own individual login details for the online learning platforms we use both in school and at home. They can find them on the front page of their reading diaries.
