Maylandsea Primary School

Enjoy and Achieve

Welcome

School Council

Meet our School Council pupils and find out what we do

At Maylandsea Primary  School, the school council is a group of pupils elected by their fellow pupils to represent their opinions and also work on projects through the year on behalf of their peers. They report to the senior leadership team and also the governors through the year.

Our School Council pupils are:

(Ladybird)

(Butterfly)

(Hedgehog) Elayna and Harvey

(Deer) Keira and Harrison

(Kingfisher) Grace and Freddie C

(Owl) Noah and Albie-Lee

(Fox) Jack R and Megan

British Values are promoted through our whole school curriculum planning, systems and daily assemblies. These values are also used to support our school council and allow real opportunities for exploring these values:

  • democracy
  • rule of law
  • individual liberty
  • mutual respect
  • tolerance of those of different faiths and beliefs

School councillors play a vital and active role in helping to improve our school and they have participated in various events. Amongst our many achievements we have:

  • Supported several charities, including Children in Need, Inspire through Sport and Red Nose Day
  • Raised funds to improve our outdoor area to support teaching, learning and wellbeing
  • Liaised with the ‘friends’ regarding fundraising ideas
  • Improved wet play times
  • Helped to revise our anti-bullying strategies and presented a  special assembly on preventing bullying

Children In Need

Friday 18th November 2022

On Friday 18th November, we will be supporting CHILDREN IN NEED at Maylandsea Primary School. After meeting with the School Council, it has been decided that this year we will be having a ‘SPOTACULAR’ DAY! The children are able to wear non-uniform. Please wear something SPOTTY. Be as spotty as you can be! Pudsey/Blush ears may be worn. Over lunchtime we will have an outside disco for children to enjoy.

During the afternoon of Friday 18th November, the School Council have requested an art and craft afternoon. Teachers will prepare activities based on this year’s theme ‘Spotacular’.
